The U.S. is going through unknowns at the present moment about coronavirus, but so far, many planned events are still on.

Most of the events included in this week’s Unlimited Arts calendar are below the 250 person limit that has been established in some localities, but some aren’t. And, there is a chance that some of these events will be cancelled within the next seven days, so check the links to make sure.

Some events we planned to include have been cancelled. We have identified them below to the best of our knowledge. We will attempt to update as details become clearer.

We do this calendar every week, and for the first time in 10 years, we are not sure about suggesting anyone to attend anything. But some of the shows, it seems, will be going on, so we are here to let you know about them.
Nearly all of these events will not have 250 or more people at them. Good entertainment and potentially good for you, too.

If you feel sick, stay home.

Be safe, be healthy and have as much fun and laughter as possible.

THIS WEEK
Thursday, March 12
Although there is only one original member left in the band, War is legendary and there are very few outfits that have the capabilities to deliver their signature style and sound. So, even if you don’t have a lowrider, or if you haven’t spilled the wine, head over to the Gila River Resort Wild Horse Pass, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Blvd., Chandler, at 8 p.m.

March 12 to April 12
My Son The Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy. Do we need to mention it is a comedy? Not likely. The show is based on the life of actor/comedian Brad Zimmerman, who moved to NYC and for 29 years was a waiter, but now has this show. Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe St., Phoenix.

March 13 to April 19
Set amidst the decade of the roaring twenties, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and wannabe nightclub dancer who maliciously murders her on-the-side lover. Arizona Broadway Theatre, 7701 W. Paradise Lane, Peoria.

Friday, March 13
Flogging Molly is back! That’s right, Flogging Molly will once again be in the Phoenix metro around St. Patrick’s Day. This time, the show is at 7:30 p.m. at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, 15406 N. Maricopa Rd., Maricopa.

Buddy Guy. We shouldn’t have to mention anything else and the house should be packed. But, just in case, realize Buddy Guy is likely the greatest living blues man. ‘Nuff said? We thought so. Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler.

This one gets a little confusing because the man who will be doing the presenting has the last name of Phoenix. Surely, Phoenix will be mentioned, but it is more a showcase of Americana and mid-century architecture. Author Charles Phoenix will present a slideshow of eye-popping space age style, car culture, tourist traps, roadside attractions, fun foods, local lore and much more in "The Mid-Century is My Muse!" Phoenix Center for the Arts, Third Street Theater, 1202 N. Third St., Phoenix.

American Longspurs, The Melroses, Michael and the Pentecost will deliver Willie’s Roadhouse: A Tribute to Willie Nelson at 8 p.m. at The Rebel Lounge, 2303 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix.

March 13 to 15
Simba, Mufasa, Ariel, The Beast, and many more characters from the animated world will be presented at Disney in Concert, as the Phoenix Symphony presents some of the greatest hits from the film studio at 7:30 p.m March 13 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. March 14 and 15. Phoenix Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St., Phoenix.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. One event that will gather more than 250 people is the Scottsdale Arts Festival. But it is outside and is still planned, so it may be a good time and as always, there will be some great art.

Saturday, March 14
The Music of Cream will bring the entire Disraeli Gears album as well as some other Clapton hits. And, the band is not just a tribute band, but has connections to the originals, including Kofi Baker (Ginger Baker’s son) and Will Johns (Eric Clapton’s nephew). Sean Mcnabb and Chris Shutters are also involved. Crescent Ballroom, 308 N. Second Ave., Phoenix, 7 p.m.

Burlesque was once no longer “cool,” but over the years, it has gotten cool ... or hot ... again. From 8 to 10 p.m. Burlescapades Presents: Way Way Way off Broadway at the Phoenix Center for the Arts – Third Street Theater, 1202 N. Third St., Phoenix. Blanche DeBris is the headliner.

Sunday, March 15
Live from Laurel Canyon - Songs and Stories of American Folk Rock is a Phoenix-based outfit that delivers the sounds of the 1960s of those bands that lived in the Hollywood Hills including The Mamas and The Papas, the Byrds, the Doors, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, the Eagles and many more. Piper Repertory Theater, 1 W. Main St., Mesa.

John Fogerty! The man is a legend and his former band, Creedence Clearwater Revival had so many hits they are one of the most legendary outfits in rock history. The best news: he’s even better live than on record. The pool at Talking Stick Resort, 9800 Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale.

Wednesday, March 18
Looking for a bit of good, old-fashioned garage punk rock? Off With Their Heads will fill that space and then some. Pub Rock, 8005 E. Roosevelt St., Scottsdale, 7:30 p.m.

ONGOING
Until March 14
Night Of The Chicken: Revenge of the Angry Booger by Carrie Behrens is happening at Space 55, 1524 N. 18th Ave. in Phoenix. This Zoni-winning radio play focuses on a young girl who deals with the twin horrors of junior high and being a “Werechicken” (as part of a family-friendly series). Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students or $20 for adults.

Until March 22
The classic Tony-winning musical La Cage aux Folles, created by the legendary Broadway composer Jerry Herman, will run through March 22 at the Arizona Broadway Theatre, 7701 W. Paradise Lane in Peoria. All tickets can be purchased through the ABT Box Office by calling 623-776-8400 or online.
