Nov. 7, 2013 — The Phoenix Parade of The Arts is coming up and in their eighth year The Strange Family Circus and everyone else involved in organizing PAPA has a whole lot to look forward too.

On Nov. 9 the pre parade festivities begin  at 5 p.m. at The A.R.T.S. Market on Roosevelt and Fifth St. and then then the PAPA procession will begin at 6 p.m. The event is free and all ages.

It is a participatory event where some of the entertainment will be provided but everyone is expected to participate to make for the best and most community based event possible.

The pre-parade party will include performances by local musicians and dancers as well as circus and street performers doing demonstrations and workshops. For children in attendance PAPA will provide there will be live art and other amusements throughout the day.

The parade will feature pedestrians, bicycles and other forms of non motorized floats as PAPA hopes to keep the event eco friendly. There will also be contests for best float, best bike, best costume, and best “cute” which typically goes to a child or animal.

To enter, contests participants must check in by 5 p.m.

There will also be stilt dancing by Tucson based performance troupe Flam Chen following the parade. The PAPA ends at 9 p.m. but with the Strange Family Circus around and an eclectic group of participants the party is sure to go much later at a local art gallery, bar or nightclub.
