Feb. 26, 2016 — McDowell Mountain Music Festival, or M3F as the cool kids call it, is gearing up for its 13th year with a massive and varied lineup and a total takeover of Margaret T. Hance Park from March 11 through 13. Yes, there are lots of live music festivals in Arizona throughout the year, but it is hard to find a lineup like that of MMMF without having to venture out of state.
Beck, Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr., Animal Collective, Porter Robinson, Kid Cudi and many more headline the 100-percent non-profit festival’s lineup this year. Aside from the headliners, there will also be a second stage featuring other national acts and a ton of local talent like Captain Squeegee and Fairy Bones.
“We’ve always prided ourselves on an eclectic mix of genres in order for people to get a taste of all types of sound. Those roots of intertwining genres would be the connective tissue. People seem to enjoy different types of genres as opposed to just one, so it’s exciting for us to bring blended spectrums of sound to the valley,” said Nate Largay, one of the chief organizers of the event.
In the 13 years that the festival has been around, they have raised $1 million for charity and the organizers of MMMF pride themselves on being able to do more than just bring music to the masses.
“We’re a charity organization that donates all proceeds to local youth charities, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and UMOM New Day Centers. There are few places you can hang out with your family, enjoy some drinks, and watch some of the best talent in music all while benefitting local, underprivileged youth. We are entering our 13th year in existence, and we’re proud to say we’ve donated well over $1 million to local charities over those years, which few festivals, if any at all, can put on their resume,” Largay said.
Those looking to add to the fun of the weekend can also attend the After Hours events at the Downtown Phoenix Renaissance Hotel that include DJ sets from Animal Collective and Griz and full sets from M!NT and Goldfish.
The full mainstage lineup for the festival is as follows.
Friday, March 11
Animal Collective, Beck, Big Wild, MS MR.
Saturday, March 12
Sunday, March 13
The Avett Brothers, Bird Dog, Firekid, Gary Clark Jr., Kaleo, The Oh Hellos.
The McDowell Mountain Music Festival will be taking place from March 11 to 13 at Margaret T Hance Park, 1202 N. Third St., Phoenix. Single day tickets start at $70 and passes for the full 3 day event start at $170. For tickets, additional lineup information and more visit the event site at mmmf.frontgatetickets.com.
