May 30, 2015 — Friday was the first full day for the 2015 Phoenix Comicon, and it didn't disappoint. The Phoenix Convention Center was packed wall-to-wall with costumed fans. The day's big stars included Edward James Olmos and Mary Mcdonnell of Battlestar Galactica, as well as many other names from comics, TV and literature. In spite of the heat, fans turned out by the thousands to enjoy the various festivities.
There is plenty of programming going on during the four-day takeover of the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third St., Phoenix. The only problem that convention goers may face is being burdened with choice and having to decide what to do each day. Well, we can’t make those decisions any easier, but we have compiled some highlights for each day to help narrow the field a little bit.
Saturday, May 30
Jason Momoa - Some may know him from his role as Khal Drogo in season one of Game of Thrones and the world will soon know him as Aquaman, but in any case, Jason Momoa is a big deal right now and he will be on hand for a spotlight panel to get the day started right on Saturday. The panel will be taking place from noon to 1 p.m. in West 301 Ballroom.

Captain Squeegee - Take a break from the busy convention floor and head outside to catch one of Arizona’s finest local bands, Captain Squeegee, on the 80/20 Records stage. The band will be playing a full set just outside the convention center. The show will be taking place from 1 to 2 p.m. on the Third Street Stage.

Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof - Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof will be taking the stage on Saturday to talk about their long careers in TV and film and to promote their new show, Finding Carter. The panel will be taking place from 3 to 4 p.m. in the West 301 Ballroom.

Marvel Vs. DC - This panel will look to answer the question that has always plagued the comic book industry: Who is better? Marvel or DC? This fan favorite panel returns to the convention this year to tackle the never ending debate. The panel will be taking place from 3 to 4 p.m. in room North 122.

Katee Sackhoff - From Battlestar Galactica to Riddick, Katee Sackhoff is anything but just the typical pretty face in the crowd, she is a full on action star and she will be on hand to discuss her career and answer fans questions. The panel will be taking place from 4:30 to 5:30 in the West 301 Ballroom.

The Star Wars Trivia Challenge - What better way to end a day at Comicon than to see how much you really know about a galaxy far far away with The Star Wars Trivia Challenge. The trivia will span the entirety of the universe from the books, animated series, films and everything inbetween. The panel will be taking place from 6 to 7 p.m. in room North 229.
