May 29, 2015 — As effective as a “Pow” from the original Batman television series or as startling as a whip cracking in the hands of Indiana Jones, Phoenix Comicon 2015 got off to a tremendous start Thursday, with hundreds of fans flocking to the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third St., Phoenix.

Thursday, cosplayers and panelists alike took a sampling of the feast that will entice them Friday, Saturday and Sunday — Friday and Saturday serving as a metaphorical two-course meal of course with Sunday as dessert.

Friday’s fun features an appearance from one of the biggest stars to ever grace the bridge of Galactica, art events, and of course, zombies. See below for our staff picks of the best of day one of Phoenix Comicon and review our video above for some photos from Thursday’s kickoff.
