Oct. 24, 2019 — On Wednesday, 20 House Republicans, including some from Arizona, attempted to crash a hearing in a sensitive compartmented information facility. Lead by Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida — one of Donald Trump’s biggest cheerleaders — they delayed testimony by Laura Cooper, the Pentagon official who handles Ukraine policy, for five hours.

This stunt came after highly damaging testimony by Bill Taylor, the top diplomat for Ukraine. In the meantime, there’s rising public support for impeaching Trump based on his now-infamous phone call with Ukraine’s president. As we come to the end of October, Trump’s future seems more in doubt, as his approval ratings drop (and some Congressional Republicans defy him).

And because he’s facing impeachment and removal, Trump seems incapable of handling serious challenges (witness the Syrian humanitarian crisis that he basically caused as the perfect example). While most are focused on a looming impeachment vote, there’s unrest in Chile, a suspicious attempt to move federal offices and a Democratic contest to watch. In today’s podcast, we’ll try and make sense of it all.
