The President Heads To Vietnam To Get Rebuffed By Kim While Michel Cohen Goes To Congress And Unleashes The Mother Of All Trump Diatribes

Modern Times Magazine

March 4, 2019 — The president went to Vietnam earlier this week, hoping to win a Nobel Prize for establishing a nuclear-free North Korea. Instead, Hermit Kingdom leader Kim Jong Un rolled Donald Trump. This happened while Michael Cohen riveted the nation with his testimony. It was a busy and bizarre week, and Modern Times Publisher John Guzzon and Karen Weil, editor at large, break it all down.

What Michael Cohen testimony tells us about Trump
For 10 years, attorney Michael Cohen acted as Donald Trump’s fixer, and that included covering up affairs with other women (one of the reasons for his upcoming prison sentence). On Wednesday, Cohen testified before the House Oversight Committee, which provided plenty of fireworks.

Fallout from Jared Kushner's security clearance
He’s the president’s son-in-law who got a security clearance despite heavy concerns from no less than the Central Intelligence Agency and a less-than-stellar background. Now, it’s has been revealed that Trump ordered former Chief of Staff John Kelly to get arrange a clearance for Kushner -- something foreign adversaries apparently welcomed.

Failed North Korea summit that never should have been held in the first place
“Sometimes you have to walk” -- that’s what Trump said about his failed summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. With the U.S. stopping military exercises with South Korea, it seems that -- once again -- Kim played Trump. That was bad enough, but Trump further disgraced himself by absolving Kim inthe death of American Otto Warmbier.

The sleazy case of Jeffrey Epstein
He served just 13 months in jail for sexually abusing dozens of underaged girls, and it turns out Florida financier Jeffrey Epstein got a sweetheart deal courtesy of Trump’s labor secretary, Alex Acosta. It’s an awful case with familiar names: Kenneth Starr, Alan Dershowitz and other power players -- and an example of a broken U.S. justice system.

Democrats' House muscle, from Green New Deal to vote on "national emergency"
They may not be pushing impeachment (yet), but since taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January, the Democrats -- lead by Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- are pushing back against Trump’s questionable policies, including his “national emergency” to siphon money for an unpopular border wall. With encouragement from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, some Dems are pushing the idea of a “Green New Deal.” Will they be able to make this ambitious plan a reality?
